Coach Strong Brings Bulls Fever to West Tampa Chamber

The West Tampa Chamber welcomed University of South Florida Head Football Coach Charlie Strong as the keynote speaker for the May 15th lunch.  In keeping with the Chamber’s commitment to promoting West Tampa venues, the event was held at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC and attendees were treated to a tour of the renovated historic facility.

Over 100 Chamber members and guests heard Coach Strong describe life as a college football player, his plans to build on USF’s football success, and the need for community support.  USF’s  10-2 record in his first season culminated in a win against Texas Tech in the Birmingham Bowl.

Citing the importance of excellent facilities in recruiting top prospects, Coach Strong spoke about plans for an indoor practice and multi-purpose facility for all USF sports.  Beyond football, Coach Strong emphasized that his job is to develop his athletes as men and his promise to parents that their sons will get their degree.  He stressed that life is about relationships and that if you are given a platform you must make sure you are saying the right things.

USF and the Tampa Bay community are fortunate to have Coach Strong and we wish him and the team good luck in the upcoming season.
GO BULLS!
